Technique

I have developed a technique which in some ways echoes what happens in nature. It is a process of one layer over the other.

Texture is of utmost importance to me. When I study the great outdoors, I am overwhelmed by the over abundance and variety of the textures. So, my first task, after mounting my callico to the board, is to create a variety of textures on the surface. I use what
ever means necessary, and try to create new and different textures for every painting I do.I create a texture composition, which, if seen on its own, will hopefully be viewed as an artwork in its own right.

There after, I add colors and tonal values, creating an other composition. Only then do I start to develope the theme of the artwork.
